Santa Clara Pueblo, known for beautifully etched and polished pieces, has produced many prolific potters over the years. April Naranjo, one of those potters, created this gorgeous, traditional wedding vase, which is entirely black and features a deeply carved avanyu design along its most bulbous portion. The avanyu showcases a wide lightning bolt tongue, along with a recognizable wavy body, which is said to represent flowing water. The vase is polished to a high shine, is simple handle connecting each spout, which are representative of each individual to be wed. 9 1/2″ tall x 5 3/8″ wide.
