Created by well-known Hopi carver Wilmer Kaye from a single piece of cottonwood root, this beautiful kachina doll depicts a Cloud Guard. The kachina showcases a colorfully painted head in turquoise, red, yellow, black, white, and purple, a half circle of delicately and intricately carved feathers surrounding it. A shawl surrounds the Cloud Guard’s shoulders and is accented in green, black and white geometric patterns, while the remainder of its clothing is painted in dark blue, green and red, with turquoise shoes. One carved piece of pottery painted black and white and one carved basket rest at the guard’s feet, filled with turkey feathers. Cloud kachinas generally represent the clouds in the sky and are said to bring moisture for crops. 8 1/8″ tall x 3 5/8″ wide x 3 1/2″ deep.
