Made entirely of turquoise and featuring jet accents, this delicate corn maiden fetish was carved by Zuni artist Carl Etsate. The piece depicts a traditional corn maiden, revered by many Southwester Native American tribes as the ultimate symbol of a sacred crop, corn, and sustenance. The piece showcases deeply etched lines to create corn kernels, which are dotted with small, round jet pieces. Jet also comprises the maiden’s eyes, while a coral stone is set at the mouth, and a tableta surrounds the head. 1 3/4″ tall x 1/2″ wide x 3/8″ wide.
